HISTORY
Hillside United Methodist Church began as Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Acworth, Georgia, in July 1979. Our first services were held in a mobile unit with twelve people present.
The congregation was placed under the care of New Church Development of the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1984.
We moved to our permanent facility on Woodstock Road in April 1986 with a membership of 125.
Three years later the congregation voted to relocate and build a new church on Towne Lake Parkway in Woodstock. The church held services in a building on Wade Green Road while the new church was being built in Towne Lake.
In January 1994 the congregation voted to change the name to Hillside United Methodist Church. With a membership of 490, we moved into our new building on Towne Lake Parkway. Our congregation is continuing to grow with a membership of over 2,700.

We are a congregation of all ages with a lot of enthusiasm to share and we look forward to a great future of service in this community. We offer an abundance of programs and ministries that will enrich the spiritual life of every member of your family. Our focus extends beyond the walls of our building. We believe that the best way to gain inward growth is to outwardly share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
